How to fix Error “We’re sorry, but something went wrong” | Power Pages
A white box with red text

AI-generated content may be incorrect.
Multiple factors can trigger this error. One of the most common causes is the expiration of the website’s authentication key, which is used to authorize the connection between Power Pages and Microsoft Dataverse.
When a power page is created, an authentication key is automatically generated and the corresponding public key is uploaded to the associated Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) application. This key is used to securely connect the site to its Dataverse environment. The key is valid for one year from the date of generation and must be renewed manually before its expiration.

⚠️ In some cases, the authentication key may expire earlier than expected due to configuration changes in Microsoft Entra, synchronization issues, site reprovisioning, or incomplete renewals.

Failure to renew the authentication key results in loss of connection to Dataverse, rendering the website inaccessible to end users.

Prerequisites
The following permissions are required to renew the authentication key:

 • Global Administrator role, or
 • Power Pages Site Owner

Renew authentication key
 1. Open the Power Platform admin center.
 2. In the left panel, choose Manage, and then Power Pages

 1. Select the site for which you want to manage the website authentication key.
 2. In the site details page, select Website Authentication Key in the Security section.
 3. In the emerging panel, check the expiration date.

Expected Behavior
 • The Power Pages site will restart automatically during the key renewal process.
 • The newly generated key will be valid for 12 months.
 • The process typically completes within a few minutes.
 • No other configurations or permissions will be altered during the update.
